And if we know that He hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked Him for. As young adult ministry leaders, we should and often do find the latest and best resources available for small groups and Bible study. We strive to provide opportunities for young adults to spend time together and with others from our church. We prioritize worship and look for ways to engage them in missions. However, I go back to one of the most crucial aspects of being a young adult ministry leader in our church: prayer. Are we faithfully praying for the young adults involved in our ministry?

Young adults tend to be among the least active voters in the United States, yet are often among the most passionate and energetic Americans on a variety of issues. Over the last several years, many young adults have become more involved in volunteer, advocacy work and community organizing efforts across the country. The decisions we make as citizens about who leads us and what policies are enacted have important moral and ethical dimensions. The values of our faith should be our guide to public life. When developing activities and educational programs, those who work with young adults should be aware of trends such as declining church attendance and involvement in parish life and a widening gap between Church teaching and beliefs or perceptions of young adults.

Across the nation, a variety of models are working to engage and equip young adults to become a part of the lifeblood of the local church. The focus is to go make disciples, who make disciples, who make disciples.
