Politicians are set to battle it out at a special meeting of the council in October, with unionists expected to oppose the application. The SDLP has already said it will support it. A previous application for the same shop prompted a legal row that reached all the way to the House of Lords as the council battled to defend its decision to refuse the outlet a licence.
